Owner Neil Hochstein carries on a proud family legacy: the herd’s bloodline traces back to 1980, when his grandfather began raising bison and was among Alberta’s very first bison ranchers. Today, the ranch raises a herd of approximately 200 head of Pure Plains Bison, along with yak, wild boar, and goat, all in a stress-free, pasture-roaming environment. Animals are raised on the farm from birth to finish, with no antibiotics, no chemical inputs to the land, and plenty of space to graze and thrive.

Bison from Alberta Bison Ranch is prized for its rich flavour, leanness, and impressive nutritional profile. It is lower in cholesterol than many other red meats and is a great source of iron, making it a favourite with health-conscious meat lovers. Customers can purchase directly at the ranch, through the Rochfort Bridge Trading Post, or at the Bountiful Market in Edmonton.
