Empowering Lac Ste. Anne Producers With Local Knowledge Since 1978

Farming Forward, also known as the West-Central Forage Association (WCFA), is a non-profit applied research and extension organization proudly based out of Sangudo, Alberta, in the heart of Lac Ste. Anne County. Since 1978, this community-rooted organization has served the needs of forage and livestock producers across the region by demonstrating new agricultural technologies and production practices through extension activities, applied research, and practical knowledge sharing. Their work spans an impressive region of roughly 10 million acres across six local counties, including Lac Ste. Anne, Parkland, Yellowhead, Woodlands, Brazeau, and Leduc.

Farming Forward brings farmers and ranchers together through field days, seminars, webinars, and hands-on workshops, including free Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) sessions that help producers identify environmental risks and access funding programs. A volunteer Board of Directors ensures the organization stays focused on the most pressing local agricultural issues. With a small but mighty team working out of the Lac Ste. Anne County Fire Services Building in Sangudo, Farming Forward is a welcoming, go-to resource for any producer looking to learn, grow, and connect with their peers in the region.
