This provides time for your initial recovery and post-operative follow-up before travelling home. What to Expect After Surgery Some bruising and swelling should be expected following surgery. Most swelling is expected to settle substantially during the first 2–3 months, although refinement continues over time and the final result may take approximately 12 months to become apparent. The surgeon has also advised that there will be a fine scar across the columella on the underside of the nose. Preparing for Surgery For two weeks before surgery, please: Stop vitamins, food supplements and diet pills. Avoid smoking and vaping. Avoid alcoholic drinks. Do not take aspirin or other blood-thinning medications unless this has been discussed with your doctor. Do not stop prescribed medication for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes or thyroid conditions without first speaking with your doctor.
